Chapter 2 Story Playthrough – Youtube

Masaki: Antilles?1

Lune: No, Antiras Squad. That’s the official name.

Kuro: It’s the name of the being in Langran’s mythology that created the world.

Masaki: I don’t see what’s wrong with the old name.

Lune: This one’s a lot cooler than the “Masoukishin Corps”.

Masaki: Really? I think that one’s fine.

Lune: It’s already been decided on.

Lune: Besides, since we’re getting new recruits and our own mothership, don’t you think it’s about time we freshened up our appearance?

Masaki: Well, I guess. Our numbers are set to increase considerably.

Lune: Only as much as the Federation will allow us, though.

Masaki: Is this Federation anything like the Earth Federation?

Lune: Not exactly, but…it’s kind of hard to explain.

Kuro: Allow me, then. The Federation is an organization that was formed to maintain international peace and security.

Masaki: So it’s like the Old Century Era’s United Nations?

Kuro: The purpose behind their creation is similar, but the two are completely different otherwise.

Kuro: Not just historically, but how the balance of power is maintained among the nations, and the fact that the Federation has its own armed forces.

Masaki: Armed forces? Do they have a private militia?

Kuro: In the past, the four countries of Langran, Bagonia, Shutedonias, and Erial provided soldiers to make a joint force…

Kuro: But because the recent battles have taxed them so much, the Antiras Squad will be taking their place.

Kuro: That’s due in part to the Langran government’s involvment.

Masaki: …Wait a minute. Does that mean we have to follow the orders of the Federation?

Kuro: They’re not so much orders as they are regulations. Think of it like a permit. We need those in order to intervene in the affairs of the other countries.

Kuro: Oh, with the exception of the Masoukishin heralds and Lune. The five of you are being given special status.

Kuro: But, unless there’s an extreme emergency, the other members will need to abide by the Federation’s decisions.

Masaki: Extreme emergency…you mean like the world is being threatened or something?

Kuro: That’s a bit of a broad statement, but yes. That’s what the Masoukishin were created to prevent in the first place.

Kuro: If such a crisis occurs, command of the Antiras Squad will be handed over to the Masoukishin heralds.

Masaki: So there’ll be the typical restrictions.

Lune: It’s only because the Antiras Squad will be an extremely powerful team.

Masaki: …Well, I guess I can see your point.

Masaki: By the way, one of the newcomers is arriving today, right?

Lune: Yeah, the message said that they’d be coming around right after registration, so it should be any moment.

Shiro: And as if on cue, someone’s at the door. Is that them?

Masaki: Should be. Come on in.

Pleased to meet you!!

Tsurein: Pardon me! Ensign Tsurein Zan Lecanivan, assigned to the Antiras Squad as of today!

Tsurein: Pleased to meet you!!

Masaki: You can turn down the volume. We can hear you just fine.

Tsurein: Of course! Pardon me!

Tsurein: Am I correct in assuming that you are Lord Masaki Andoh and Lady Lune Zoldark?

Masaki: Not sure how I feel about the title, but I am Masaki.

Lune: It’s rather presumptuous to ask someone their name, but Lune Zoldark is who I am.

Masaki: Where’s that from? Kabuki Theater?

Lune: Yep, Aoto Zōshi Hana no Nishiki-e, otherwise known as Five Men of the White Waves.

Masaki: I’m not surprised that you know that.

Lune: It’s popular enough that even you should know it, Masaki.

Masaki: Well, whatever. Nice to meet you, Tsurein.

Tsurein: Sir! I look forward to your continued guidance and encouragement!

Masaki: …You’ve been standing stiff even since you go there. Feel free to loosen up a bit.

Tsurein: Yes! Understood! I shall strive to attain a more limber posture in the future!

Masaki: …Not exactly what I meant.

Lune: Well, first off, let’s have a look at your skills.

Tsurein: Skills…what do you mean?

Lune: Your skills at piloting a Masouki.

Tsurein: Y-Yes…but, how…

Lune: We’ll just head to the hangar and have you move one around a bit.

Tsurein: Is that okay?

Lune: Of course. You’re already a member of the Antiras Squad. And you do want to pilot a Masouki, right?

Tsurein: Yes ma’am!

Lune: Well then, it’s decided. Let’s go to the hangar.

Masaki: Actually…

Lune: Hm? What’s wrong?

Masaki: Tsurein, right? Work on that stiff way of speaking. Consider it an order.

Tsurein: Yes sir!

Masaki: …Good answer.

Masouki Hangar

Xenia: Hey Masaki, Lune.

Masaki: …Should’ve expected to find you here.

Xenia: Naturally. There’s plenty of maintenance to go around.

Lune: You’d be here even if there was zero work to be done.

Xenia: Well anyway, who’s the new kid?

Masaki: Oh, that’s right. This is Tsurein…what was it?

Tsurein: Ensign Tsurein Zan Lecanivan!

Masaki: Right. That was it.

Tsurein: Yes sir! So, once again…I am Ensign Tsurein Zan Lecanivan!

Xenia: Xenia Grania Bilsea. Nice to meet you.

Tsurein: Yes! Thank you very much…and the pleasure is all mine!

Xenia: Heh, strange kid. Makes sense why he’d be assigned to our group.

Masaki: Huh? What’s that supposed to mean?

Xenia: What? You don’t get it? The Antiras Squad was assigned a ton of oddballs.

Tsurein: …..

Xenia: Oh, sorry Tsurein, I didn’t mean that as an insult.

Tsurein: No, it’s fine. That’s actually true, more or less. I was prepared to hear it.

Masaki: Oddballs…what’s that supposed to mean?

Xenia: In short, they’re extremely skilled but have a bunch of personality quirks.

Masaki: Hmm…so our team’s gonna be filled with a bunch of characters? I guess that’s not so bad, right?

Kuro: If it’s characters we’re talking about, Masaki fits right in.

Masaki: Quiet you.

Xenia: So, did you come to the hangar for a tour? Or a test run?

Masaki: Test run. We clear to launch?

Xenai: Ready anytime. Tsurein, what’s your cumulative amount of practice time?

Tsurein: 200 hours in the simulator, and 50 hours in the Blowel.

Xenia: Hmm, so you’ve just graduated from the academy. I wonder how you’ll adapt to a higher-class Masouki. And your spirit compatibility is…fire.

Xenia: I think you should give the Leogeira a try.

Masaki: Leo…what now?

Xenia: Leogeira. A new Masouki developed by Wendy exclusively for the Antiras Squad.

Masaki: Wendy? When did she…

Xenia: Of course, I also helped.

Masaki: Huh? Wait a sec…didn’t you say there were only 16 Masouki constructed in the original plan?

Masaki: This isn’t another 17th Masouki thing like Ismile, is it?

Xenia: Only in basic concept. Ismile was built as the successor to the Masoukishin.

Xenia: Meanwhile the Leogeira was built as a successor to the Jeifar.

Masaki: Successor? Then what happened to the Jeifar?

Xenia: It’s being readjusted to fix various performance problems. It’s good to have a few spare Masouki on hand whenever that happens.

Masaki: …Does that mean you have a substitute for Cybuster lying around?

Xenia: Sadly no. A Masoukishin isn’t something that can be just put together.

Xenia: Making a contract with a high-ranking spirit is no easy task.

Xenia: …Though I’d love to try someday.

Masaki: There’s a scary though.

Xenia: What’s scary about it?

Masaki: Well, with the Duraxyll on your track record…

Masaki: ACK!! N-No…I didn’t mean it like…

Masaki: Wh-What I meant was…

Xenia: Don’t worry about it. I haven’t forgotten about the Duraxyll.

Xenia: But I can’t stop moving forward just because of the way things ended up.

Xenia: I’m a designer for Masouki. It’s only natural that I’d want to create a Masoukishin someday.

Xenia: One that can actually forge a pact with a high-ranking spirit, of course.

Tsurein: Th…That was beautiful! As expected from Princess Xenia!

Masaki: Well, yeah, it’s definitely good to hear. Good for you, Xenia.

Xenia: A-Alright, you two. That’s enough flattery.

Xenia: B-Back to the point. Tsurein, you were going for a test ride, right?

Tsurein: Oh, that’s right! In that case, I will board the Leogeira!

Xenia: Okay, look here so that it can register your retina. After that, just say whatever comes to mind. That’ll get your voiceprint registered.

Tsurein: Understood!

Masaki: Huh? What’s all this about?

Xenia: Additional security measures. Since the Anitras Squad’ll be an independent military branch and all.

Lune: Oh, I see.

Xenia: I figured I would implement the systems found onboard the Masoukishin and Valsione.

Xenia: OK, registration complete. Now, are you ready for some live combat?

Tsurein: Yes ma’am!

Tsurein: …Y-You mean, a-a real battle with real fighting!?

Xenia: Well, yes. I was asked to exterminate some Demon Golems, so I figured you could tag along.

Masaki: Ah, I gotcha. That’s perfect.

Lune: Yep. No better training that actual combat.

Tsurein: Huh? What!?

Lune: Relax. We’ll be following along.

Masaki: That’s right, so are you ready to go?

Tsurein: Bwaaaaaa!?

Masaki: I suggest we get going before the girls start to complain.

Tsurein: Y…Yes, understood!

Masaki: Good, I’ll just get in the Cybuster…

Wendy: Oh, Masaki. You’re looking for the Cybuster?

Masaki: Hey Wendy. Actually I am…is there something wrong?

Wendy: I’m sorry, but the Cybuster’s undergoing routine inspection.

Wendy: And because it’s due for an overhaul, you won’t be able to use it today.

Masaki: Darn…guess it can’t be helped. I guess I can use the Jaohm, though its been awhile. Is it good to go?

Wendy: Yes, the Jaohm will be fine. Gennady hasn’t returned yet.

Masaki: Great, I’ll borrow it.

Wendy: You’re hunting Demon Golems, right. I overheard that part. Good luck.

Masaki: Let’s go!

Langran Outskirts

Chapter 2: The Birth of the Antiras Squad

*Jaohm, Valsione R, Nors Rei, Leogeira and a Demon Golem appear*

Tsurein: A-A real Demon Golem…

Masaki: What, just the one?

Xenia: Huh? According to the report, there should be at least five…

Lune: Let’s keep our wits about us, then.

Masaki: Right. Tsurein, we’ll leave this one to you.

Tsurein: B-But this is my first…

Xenia: Don’t sweat it. The basic performance is higher than you’re used to, so just fight like you’ve done in training and you’ll be fine.

Lune: That’s right. And remember not to expose your back to the enemy.

Tsurein: …U-Understood! Ensign Tsurein Zan Lecanivan, charging in!!

*Leogeira moves forward*

Xenia: Watch your mech’s damage level. If it gets too high, I’ll repair it with my Nors Rei.

Tsurein: Roger that!

*Conditions Shown, Battle starts*

{Tsurein attacks the Demon Golem}

Tsurein: L-Let’s go!! Uwaaaaa!!

{The Demon Golem attacks Tsurein}

Tsurein: Whoa!? I-It’s coming!?

Masaki: Calm down! You can’t expect to beat it with a single blow!

{Turn 2 Player Phase, if the Demon Golem is still alive}

Kuro: Masaki, there’s a reaction on the spirit radar!

Lune: It looks like…the other four Golems. They’ll be here in less than five minutes.

Tsurein: Say what!?

Masaki: Don’t worry. We’ll handle them.

Xenia: It’s what we do. Now, focus on your battle at hand.

Tsurein: Isn’t this a little much to throw at a someone for their first time!?

Masaki: Everyone has a first time! You should consider yourself lucky, ’cause this is pretty easy!

Tsurein: Urk…I had no idea Masoukishin heralds were so demanding.

Xenia: Yeah yeah. Quit whining and wrap this up.

Tsurein: Yes ma’am!

{Tsurein defeats the Demon Golem}

Tsurein: I-I did it!!

Xenia: Well, that was pretty good for your first time.

Masaki: Yeah, better than I expected.

Tsurein: M-My sincerest thanks!

{Demon Golem is destroyed}

*Initial Golem is destroyed or Turn 3 Player Phase, four more appear*

Lune: There’s the rest.

Masaki: Alright, let’s get in there.

Lune: You got it.

*Defeat all enemies*

Masaki: Looks like that’s the end.

Lune: Yeah, the radar’s stopped responding.

Xenia: Well the, let’s head back.

Tsurein: Right away!

En route

Masaki: Even so, I wonder who summoned those Demon Golems.

Xenia: They were used pretty frequently in recent conflicts, so it’s no surprise that some are still wandering around.

Xenia: Besides, we know that the Volkruss Cult isn’t completely defunct…

Masaki: That Satilus guy…you think he did this?

Xenia: I don’t think it matters this time. Someone could have summoned them for civil engineering work, for all we know.

Masaki: Well if you summon them, you should dispose of them too.

Xenia: You don’t need to tell me. I’m the one who has to write the report.

Lune: That reminds me, who requested the extermination of those Demon Golems?

Xenia: The Security Bureau. They offered a special price for the job. That being said, it’s only 10,000 credits.

Lune: Seems like a normal fee for one of our one-off jobs.

Xenia: We’ll probably be seeing an increase once the Antiras Squad is officially established.

Masaki: …I take it this means that we’ll be receiving no financial support from the Langran government.

Xenia: Not completely. But there’s no doubt that we’ll need to be financially independent of them.

Tsurein: …Then the rumors were true.

Xenia: Hold up. Has this story spread to the academy?

Tsurein: Yes, it has.

Xenia: Rats, that’ll cut down on the number of applicants.

Tsurein: I still volunteered.

Xenia: …You are a little weird, actually. You knew this and still volunteered?

Tsurein: I volunteered because of the admiration I have for the valor and selflessness that the Masoukishin Corps showed in the previous conflicts.

Lune: Admiration? For us?

Tsurein: Yes ma’am!

Lune: You really feel that way, even with all the friction we’ve had with the Langran military?

Tsurein: Yes, because you fight for the good of all La Gias. That’s what’s important.

Tsurein: Of course, I love Langran, but I can’t ignore injustice on a greater scale.

Masaki: Well, that explains why you’re so stiff.

Xenia: Regardless of why you volunteered, I’m grateful that you did.

Xenia: Now, we really should get back to Langran. If that report isn’t written, we won’t be getting paid.

Masaki: Oops, right. Let’s get moving.

The Birth of the Antiras Squad End

1Yes, I made that joke. Deal with it.
